Tesla Truck To Launch On November 21

When Tesla first launched the production Model Y in March this year Tesla apparently removed an image from their presentation. The image was one of a futuristic looking pickup truck.

Now Elon Musk, Mr Tesla, has tweeted that Tesla would be announcing the launch of their new electric pickup truck, known as the “Cybertruck” very soon, in fact on November 21st. The launch will be near the SpaceX facility which is located in Los Angeles. A teaser of this new pickup truck was embedded in the credits at the end of 1982’s Blade Runner. Elon Musk referred to the film in his tweets, stating that November 2019 in Los Angeles because, “Of course that’s why”.

In January it was said that the company would be unveiling the Tesla truck before the summer of 2019, however that has already been and gone. The new November timeline is handy and fits well giving the Cybertruck an added buzz, as the media will already be travelling to Los Angeles for the LA Auto Show that is on at about the same time.

No official details of the truck have really been announced yet, Mr Musk has said previously that he is projecting the Tesla pickup to be priced under $US50,000,

When you think that Americans buy more pickup trucks or pickups than any other type of car or vehicle, it seems like the Tesla building one was more a matter of when than if. And with competition coming from Ford as they get set to enter the market with an electric Ford F150 and the Amazon-backed Rivian, Tesla is likely going to want and perhaps need first mover advantage in this segment. Again Elon has set the stage for a very memorable launch.

It has been claimed that Musk has said that,”I think the Tesla Cybertruck is our best product ever,” on Tesla’s latest earnings call on October 23 2019.

How Charging Your iPhone Could Let Hackers Access Your Bank Account

The superficial task of charging your iPhone could lead to some serious privacy problems, like having your passwords stolen and bank account hacked by cyber criminals.

    charging your iPhone

This is all because of a discovery that certain low-grade charging cables were designed to gain access to your computer once you connect your iPhone to it.

What’s worse is that it was meticulously designed to look identical to that of the Apple Lightning cables, making it seem like nothing fishy is happening deep down.

This product, developed by a hacker known as MG, was showcased to the public during the Def Con Cybersecurity Convention in Las Vegas held last week.

The product was called OMG cable and was made from an original Apple Lighting cable and was fitted with a small Wi-Fi-enabled implant. “It looks like a legitimate cable and works just like one,” as announced by the developer MG at the said conference.

“Not even your computer will notice a difference – until I, as an attacker, wirelessly take control of the cable. Once the product is plugged into the computer, a hacker using a nearby Wi-Fi network can wirelessly transmit malicious payloads on the computer. From here the hacker could remotely lock the victim’s computer to collect their username and password when they log back on.

MG also demonstrated remotely accessing phishing sites on the user’s screen using the cable itself. These phishing sites were fake websites created to collect personal details of the victims.

“It’s like being able to sit at the keyboard and mouse of the victim but without actually being there,” he said.

The hacker said it took him up to 300 hours and close to $A6000 to develop the risky cable. While it was an Apple item that served as the base of the product, MG claimed it can be created from any USB cable.

Besides all this, MG still plans to recreate the cable from scratch and make money out of it online as a “legitimate security tool.”

Apple recommends only using accessories certified by the company for the best protection.

“An Apple Lightning to USB cable has ‘Designed by Apple in California’ and either ‘Assembled in China’, ‘Assembled in Vietnam’, or ‘Indústria Brasileira’ on the cable about seven inches from the USB connector.,” it’s website explains. “You’ll see a 12-digit serial number at the end of this text.”

While it’s still advisable to use authentic Apple products for your iPhones, it is still worth noting that it has been reported that an authentic iPhone cable was used for the hack, as what was showcased in the convention, which still makes it vulnerable for sneaky cyber attacks.

48% of Your Battery Will Be Back in Just 5 Minutes of Charging, Again, Huawei Teases Fast Charging Tech

A new video has been put out by Huawei to tease its next-generation for fast charging. Huawei Watt Lab developed a new technology and claimed to charge the smartphone batteries 10x faster than that of a conventional battery. Huawei has said that smartphones will get charged in just a few minutes according to the setup shown in the video. Back in 2015, Huawei had revealed the technology itself, however the company is teasing all the techies again, maybe hinting an upcoming launch.

On Wednesday, Huawei posted on YouTube. According to the latest video, the company claims to have an innovative quick charging solution that will refill the battery capacity to 48% in just 5 minutes. The amount of charge will be enough for 10hours of talk time according to Huawei. In the video, Huawei said that the new technology manages to achieve “high charging efficiency” which is ten times faster than the current charging time, without sacrificing the battery life. As believed by Huawei, the new quick charging battery will offer backups in electronic devices such as smartphones, mobile power supplies, computers and electric vehicles.

Two videos had been posted by Huawei back in 2015 wherein one, within 2 minutes a 600mAh battery has been shown charging to 68% of its capacity in just 2 minutes. However, on another, 3000mAh capacity and having a 620 Wh/L and above of energy density has been charged to 48% capacity in just 5 minutes. The new video released by Huawei is somewhat similar to the 2nd video from the 2015, however the part for the 3000mAh battery capacity has been omitted this time.

In the new video, another interesting thing to note is that Huawei’s new technology is able to quickly charge smartphone batteries, the only thing is that there is a separate device for that. It means that to be able to charge their batteries, they will have to remove their smartphone batteries. So, the question is, would removable batteries will make a comeback or not? Huawei had recently launched smartphones in India, the Honor View 10, Honor Lite 9, and Honor 7X, and these models all sport non-removable batteries.
